What BIGVU does
From its App Store page and website:
- A teleprompter that records video on iPhone and iPad, with an AI eye contact fix.
- Several takes, so you keep the best one.
- Automatic captions, themes with your logo and colors, green screen replacement and music.
- BIGVU Cloud, with access from the web.
- A free plan at 720p with a watermark, up to 9 minutes per video, and paid plans by subscription.
The built-in way
Before you switch apps: the iPhone Camera app records video and has a Pause button while you film, but it shows no script. Apple's steps: Apple Support, Record a video with your iPhone camera. For anything more than a few lines, you need an app that shows the script while it records.
Alternatives, by what you need
- A script that follows your voice: Teleprompter.com lists VoiceGlide scrolling, on its free plan too, and Teleprompter for Video lists voice-assisted scrolling.
- Captions and quick edits in the same app: Teleprompter for Video adds captions, .srt export, resizing and green screen replacement after recording. Teleprompter.com adds subtitles on its paid plan.
- A rig, remotes and an external display: Teleprompter Pro by Teleprompter Apps Ltd, with a one-time purchase option.
- The same scripts on a phone, a Mac and the web: Teleprompter.com.
- A script filmed in parts, joined into one video: Cue.
Where Cue fits, and where it does not
Cue is a teleprompter camera for iPhone and iPad. The script scrolls on the camera screen at the speed you set while Cue films you. With Cue Pro you put take breaks in the script, film one part at a time while the prompter waits, retake any one part, and Cue joins the takes into one video in 9:16, 1:1 or 16:9. Cue Pro also adds 4K, audio-only recording and on-device AI tools with Apple Intelligence that polish, shorten or write hooks.
Cue does not replace BIGVU's editing side. It has no captions, no logo themes, no green screen, no music, no eye contact fix, no web app and no account. If those are why you use BIGVU, one of the apps above or a separate editor fits better.
Move a script from BIGVU to Cue
- Copy your script text from wherever you keep it.
- In Cue, tap + (New script) and paste it. With Cue Pro you can also import a text file or PDF from Files.
- Tap Open Teleprompter, open the Text size tool and tap Test read to set Speed and Size.
- For a long script, add a take break where each part ends, so the prompter stops there. Filming in takes is part of Cue Pro.
- Record. For one take, tap Save in Review to put the video in Photos. With takes, tap Finish, put them in order and combine them into one video.
Questions
Is BIGVU free?
BIGVU's website lists a free plan that records at 720p with a watermark, up to 9 minutes per video. Its paid plans remove the watermark. The App Store shows the price for your country.
Is there a free alternative to BIGVU?
Several teleprompter apps have a free version. Cue's free version has the teleprompter and camera, 3 scripts and Full HD recording, with no watermark. Teleprompter for Video is free for scripts of up to 750 characters, with no watermark. Cue has no captions or branding, free or in Cue Pro.
Does Cue fix eye contact with AI?
No. Cue does not change your eyes in the video. It keeps the script on the camera screen while it films you, so you read and look toward the camera at the same time.
Can I film several takes in Cue, as in BIGVU?
Yes, with Cue Pro, but it works differently. BIGVU's App Store page describes recording several takes and keeping the best one. In Cue, each take is one part of the script. You retake any part, and Cue joins the parts in order into one video.
