How do you record yourself talking on iPhone without memorizing?

Write what you want to say as short lines, put them on a teleprompter card next to the front camera, and read them while you record. In Cue, tap +, write or paste the script, tap Open Teleprompter and record. For a longer script, film it in parts, so the script stops after each part.

Can you record yourself talking with the Camera app?

Yes. Open Camera, tap Video, switch to the front-facing camera and tap the Record button. Apple's steps: Apple Support, Record a video with your iPhone camera and Take a selfie. The Camera app shows no script, so without one you either memorize the whole thing or record a few lines at a time with the Pause button (iOS 18 and later). How do you write something you can say without memorizing it?

  • Write one idea per part, and say the main point in the first line.
  • Use short sentences, the way you would say them to a friend.
  • Put a line break wherever you would breathe.
  • Read it aloud once and rewrite any line that you trip on.

You do not have to start from a blank page. In an empty script, Start from a template lists three starter templates for the type of video you pick, for example Three tips in a minute. Each one shows its length and how many takes it has. Starter templates are free.

How long will the script take to say?

Cue counts 2.6 words a second. The footer of the script editor shows "N words, m:ss to read", so a script of about 156 words reads in about a minute. In Cue Pro, More > Length goal sets 30, 60 or 90 seconds, and the footer tells you when the script runs over it.
